Gilbert's Bio

Hi, my name is Gilbert, and I've been an intern in the Biosciences Department since September,

2011. I graduated from Bioscience High School, which is a kind of new school. Their curriculum was based on science, so every class that we had was related to science. During my four years at Bioscience, we had a task every year where we had to present a yearlong project to the whole school, which was a difficult thing at that time. I completed four projects throughout my years in high school, which helped me acquire presentation skills and also research skills. I'll admit that my first couple projects were not great, but what I learned from those helped me to create more efficient projects.

I have had two internships so far, one at Phoenix College, and the other at N.P. Grace which is a women's health clinic. At my second internship, I was an assistant to the nurses, helping them file and note everything about the patient. I started doing both internships because I wanted to gain experience in different fields, because at first I didn't want to major in any kind of sciences instead I wanted to major in business. After a year at Phoenix College, I feel more comfortable going into a science related major because of the experiences that I have had here. Now I am majoring in biochemistry, which is two of my favorite subjects put together.
